Our family nursery
Lakeside Garden Patch is a third-generation family business on the shore of Lake Minnetonka's south basin.
It began when Ruth and Henry opened a small vegetable stand on Highway 7, selling sweet corn and bedding plants from their truck garden. Their daughter Margaret expanded the greenhouses in the 1990s, and today her children run the nursery you see — still planting, still answering questions, still closing early on thunderstorm afternoons when everyone should be inside anyway.
We employ about twenty people during peak season, many of them local high school and college students who return year after year. Several of our growers have been with us for over a decade.
What we believe
- Gardening should feel approachable, not intimidating
- Plants should be suited to Minnesota's real weather, not catalog fantasy
- A good nursery listens before it sells
- Supporting local growers keeps our community resilient
